Creating Kumo

Kumo was created to showcase products and services that transcend the cloud. The naming process was an exciting one. Kumo means cloud in Japanese. By selecting a name that is both mysterious and elegant yet simple and memorable we insured the success of it's launch. Kumo is powered by BCS, a prominent Orange County based communications company.

The Identity was as simple and defined as the name. Beautiful and iconic, it represents the core values of the company. When you look at Kumo as a whole it puts you in a Zen like state. Sabet had the pleaure of working on Kumo from it's beginings. It was created out of nothing, and yet it will mean everything for the future of communications.

We had a wonderful time developing the youtheory brand, packaging and photography. So when it was time to put it all together, we felt that a short video would be the best way to pass on the brand message.

Re-Branding History | Verbum Dei High School

When I got the gig, I was absolutely delighted. It wasn't like my other work. I mean, It wasn't for commerce. I was getting paid, but I wasn't creating to sell anything. I was asked to re-create the heritage and face of a school. A gem of a school in the Los Angeles area. Verbum Dei is not your average high school. With a 50 Year history and it's catholic roots - this school preps teens for college and a better life.

Sitting down at the table with the school's leadership was a wonderful experience for me. In these times of religious confusion, a catholic school had asked a muslim iranian-american to design their new identity. Actually The Verb as it's referred to, has always been open to all people from any back ground. I loved their open hearts and their approach to leadership and education. 

Some of the notable things that I understood about the school was their Cristo Rey Work Program, where kids go to work for big corporations. The kids get amazing experience, and the corporations sponsor part of their education. The internal operations and logistics of the program were amazing.

Verbum Dei High Eagles EmblemI was asked to design their identity, logo, sports identities and a 50th Anniversary logo. I also created some new symbols for the school that were based on the heritage and symbology of what I took away from my visit to the Verb.  I loved this project and I can't wait to work with the folks at Verbum Dei again. What an honor to have my work become part of this wonderful schools future. I can just imagine the thousands of kids that will wear these identities proudly on their school uniforms, on their football helmets and more for another 50 years. It was important to me to create a timeless identity that could last for as long as this school is on this planet. I think the biggest deal is that this identity will probably outlast my lifetime - It will be part of history and the future. It will be here for all of eternity - That's an incredible feeling.

It's official: PhotoshopCafe is the publisher for Ali Sabet and Behypercreative!

This is a proud moment for me. This is one of those moments that can change the course of your life. This is what hypercreativity is about and where I see all this amazing content going. It's time that more people start realizing their dreams. And the reason for this moment is exactly that; to pass on this knowledge to a more targeted audience. Today I'm announcing my official relationship with photoshopcafe.com.  I'm excited that I have become an official author at photoshopcafe. I'm truly proud to join Colin Smith's company and be held in the same regard as some of the most knowledgable, well spoken and prolific authors and speakers in the creative industry.

PhotoshopCafe has been creating and sharing the first-in-class training videos and books for creative professionals for over a decade. I have seen Colin Smith go from writing his first book 10 years ago to creating a mini-empire with PhotoshopCafe. But he didn't stop there, last year PhotoshopCafe acquired a competing industry giant, Software Cinema! So after 10 years of friendship and working in tandem on baby projects, i'm truly excited and honored to be a part of this amazing organization.

So what are we working on? We are working on the HYPERCREATIVE METHOD™ SERIES by Ali Sabet. This will include amazing titles such as Character Design and Illustration using the Hypercreative Method™ and many more titles. The image above is a teaser of this title. There is much more coming and I can't wait to share them with you!
